At REDO K, we believe that when citizens are informed, engaged, and empowered, they can drive real change in their communities. Our recent work in Bungoma County is a testament to the power of social accountability and collaborative governance.
Over the past months, we have proudly worked alongside local residents and the Bungoma County Government to address key community needs. Through our scorecard and budget advocacy initiatives, we identified priority issues, mobilized citizen voices, and pushed for tangible solutions. The results speak for themselves.
Key Development Outcomes
1. Installation of Floodlights and a Water Kiosk at Londo Market, Malakisi South (Kulisiru Ward)
Londo Market is a bustling hub for traders, farmers, and residents. However, limited lighting in the evenings created security concerns and reduced trading hours. The installation of new floodlights has transformed the space, making it safer and more vibrant after dark. In addition, a new water kiosk now provides clean, accessible water, supporting both traders and the surrounding community.
2. Drilling and Upgrading of a Water Borehole and Expansion of the Laboratory at Malakisi Health Centre
Access to clean water and quality healthcare is essential for any thriving community. At Malakisi Health Centre, a newly drilled and upgraded borehole now ensures a consistent supply of safe water, improving both patient care and facility hygiene. The expanded laboratory enhances diagnostic capabilities, meaning residents can receive faster and more accurate medical services.
3. Construction of a Water Kiosk and Cattle Drinking Troughs at Kabkara Dam, Lwandanyi Ward
Water is life, not only for people but also for livestock that many rural families depend on for their livelihoods. The newly built water kiosk and cattle drinking troughs at Kabkara Dam are helping to reduce water scarcity challenges in the area, supporting both household needs and economic activities such as farming and animal husbandry.
Powered by Citizen Engagement
None of these milestones would have been possible without the active participation of community members. Through our scorecard process, residents shared their concerns and priorities. Our budget advocacy work ensured these issues were addressed in county development plans and funding allocations.
By partnering with the Bungoma County Government, we have turned citizen voices into concrete development actions.
