About Us

Redo Kenya is an umbrella grassroots organization that started its operations in 2013 and was legally registered in August 2014 as a community based organization (CBO) and began its operation with the main aim of empowering marginalized and minority community.

The organization has partnered with various development partners who supported various programs around Democracy, Human Rights, Social Accountability and Governance geared towards realization of improved service delivery in Bungoma County.

REDO is also a convener of governance CSOs in Bungoma and through this network, we have managed to influence a number of policies including public participation, civic education, health, agriculture, finance etc.

Our working strategy is to connect and empower the citizens through capacity development so that they can exercise their democratic rights. REDO Kenya works through its strong grassroots organizations where we look for partnerships then links up with grass root organizations which includes women, youth and self help groups. Through these groups, we are able to reach rural communities hence able to achieve our goals sustainably.

REDO Kenya main target is women, youths, PwDs and minority communities. Due to demand in our services and need to expand our scope, the organization members passed a resolution in December 2021 during the AGM to register it as a national NGO and was registered on 8th July 2022 via certificate No. OP.218/051/21-426/12524.

What We Stand For

Integrity

REDO is committed to the highest standards of truthfulness and honesty in all its operations and interactions. REDO believes that integrity is essential for its Board of members, Staff, Partners and other stakeholders, in order to ensure open and truthful partnerships. REDO endeavors to contribute to Kenyans internalization of the guiding principles of leadership and integrity as laid out in Article 73(2) of the Constitution of Kenya (CoK).

Equality

We are committed to ensuring that individuals and groups have access to the necessary resources and support that ensure equal opportunities. REDO is committed to contributing to equality and freedom from discrimination as enshrined in Article 27 of the CoK. In this respect, REDO shall apply affirmative action in its operations and programmes in order to promote the interests and needs of marginalised and minority groups.

Non-Political

REDO shall be objective and independent in its work and will not be affiliated to any political party. REDO will ensure that its resources will not be used for any partisan activities or contribute to partisan initiatives. REDO recognizes that every Citizen is free to make political choices as enshrined in Article 38 of the CoK and therefore to ensure that this right is realized by all, and will not be affiliated to any political party.

REDO strives to be continually cooperative in the interests of the organization’s Vision and Mission. REDO will at all times seek partnerships and opportunities that bring together stakeholders in a common vision of enabling citizens to realize their constitutional aspirations.

Professionalism

REDO is committed to the highest level of diligence, skills and competency. REDO will Endeavour to ensure that its Board and Staff act with the highest level of professionalism at all times and levels in order to ensure that citizens are able to benefit from the work of the organization.

Our Team and Approach

Our Structure

The organization is led by the Board of Directors which comprises of 7 members including women and PwD representative. There is also two advisors who advices the board on governance and legal matters. They are ex-official members of the board. The secretariat is led by the Chief Executive Officer who is also secretary to the board. The board meets quarterly for its meeting and also during extra ordinary meeting.

Staff Establishment

REDO Kenya has a well established staff with various qualification and experience in community work. The organization has 6 full time staff and 50 paid volunteers who work as Accountability champions and civic educators spread across Bungoma County. REDO also has 25 budget champions trained by our two County budget coordinators to help the community in influencing the budget to be citizen led.
